The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) announces winner of the 2003 Excellence in Clinical Practice Award

Cherry Hill, New Jersey – April 16, 2003 -- The American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) announces that Shirley E. Agodoa, BSN, MA, RN, CPAN, CAPA, was the recipient of the 2003 Excellence in Clinical Practice Award, which was presented to her during the opening ceremonies of ASPAN’s 22nd annual National Conference held in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This award recognizes and supports excellence in clinical nursing practice in postanesthesia nursing and is sponsored by Metro KC / Missouri Kansas PeriAnesthesia Nurses Association. Ms. Agodoa is awarded complimentary registration, airfare and four nights hotel accommodations to ASPAN’s 2004 National Conference as well as a handsome engraved crystal plaque.

As stated by her peers, Ms. Agodoa is an outstanding nurse who serves as an exemplary role model and mentor in the field of perianesthesia nursing. She is a visionary and risk-taking leader who believes in training, empowering and supporting her staff and colleagues. While functioning in her leadership role as Nurse Manager for the Ambulatory Procedure Unit at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, she has initiated and developed countless PE&I projects to improve patient care as well as served on the Naval hospital’s nursing research committees. Ms. Agodoa’s pride and commitment to nursing is reflected through the enthusiasm and energy she invests in our future Navy nurses.
