The ASPAN Research Committee was established to encourage and support the development of a body of scientific knowledge in the field of perianesthesia nursing.

Vision

The ASPAN Research Committee will advance perianesthesia nursing research.

Mission

In collaboration with the ASPAN Clinical Practice and Education Committees, the Research Committee will promote patient care that is guided by research and research methods and will educate the perianesthesia nurses in improving quality patient care.

Core Values

1.

Patient Focus - "Our patients are our passions". As professionals, it is our main purpose to improve the health and well being of perianesthesia patients. It is our responsibility to involve family members and significant others for the purpose of improving research-based practice.

2.

PeriAnesthesia Nurses Support - It is our responsibility to identify and increase research opportunities and involvement of perianesthesia nurses. We strive to influence perianesthesia nurses in improving patient care through the use of existing research findings and research methods.

3.

Learning and Growth - We provide research educational programs through publications, presentations, participation in research activities, research grants, and consultations to assist the perianesthesia nurses. We strive to influence the perianesthesia nurses in their knowledge in research methods to advance the science of nursing.
