ASPAN, WISPAN
Upon review of ASPAN’s Strategic Plan and our B.A.G., describe your vision as a national leader to keep the organization current and relevant in the existing healthcare environment to meet the needs if the membership. How will you assure ASPAN is strategically positioned to accomplish our goals and objectives?
Perianesthesia nursing is expanding into several new venues such as women’s health and radiology. Areas that administer anesthesia need to be aware of our standards of care resulting in the expansion of our scope of influence. Many non-members’ first contacts with ASPAN are through the Clinical Practice Committee. We need to answer our questions with conviction using our standards and evidence to support the answers we provide. This provides a unique opportunity to influence the practice of these individuals and to further our goal as being the voice of perianesthesia nursing. Collaborating with other committees can assist us in preparing evidenced based answers and/or tools for the membership. I would bring to ASPAN leadership abilities I have acquired over the years. Developing processes that would identify frequent themes, provide a method for addressing those themes in collaboration with other committees so that ASPAN can creatively continue on our journey toward excellence and beyond.
