The Atchafalaya Association of  PeriAnesthesia is grieving at having to inform you of the loss of one of our best-known and most-cherished members. Our treasurer, Carrie Judice, was killed on New Year’s Day after the vehicle she was driving was struck head-on by an impaired driver.

Carrie became an RN in 1981, and, true to her belief in education, was working on her Masters degree in nursing at the time of her death. Her passion for nursing carried her through many specialties including floor nursing, Radiology special procedures,  Intensive Care, and her most recent specialty, PeriAnesthesia nursing.

Her love of PeriAnesthesia nursing brought her to ASPAN/LAPAN/AAPAN  twelve years ago. She was always willing  to help with AAPAN’s projects and seminars, and had been our treasurer since 2004. The excellent quality of her nursing care meshed perfectly with LAPAN’s high standards. Her skills were so superb that in 2006 she received the coveted Excellence in Clinical Practice award.

The loss of Carrie is a blow not only to her friends and co-workers at LSSH, but also to the entire nursing community. She will be deeply missed.
