I work in a Pre/Post Procedural Care area and we need to implement a Call Procedure/Policy for 19-23, Monday-Friday. I am looking for examples of what other units do in a similar situation. We are a union hospital so will need to follow some standards, but I am just looking for roughly how other units implement signing up for being on-call. We have about 45 staff members and will have about 40 call shifts to fill (M-F x 2 shifts from 19-23). My biggest concern is that we do not have a set schedu...

Curtains in PACU 332 2

Hello! We are being asked to remove curtains in our PACU. We have not as yet been given the 'why'. Is there research or an ASPAN statement regarding curtains or no curtains in the PACU The leader who is mandating this states it is the standard in many PACU's in the country. Our PACU nurses do not currently receive any specialty pay, while the OR nurses do at our hospital ($3/hr extra). We are a Phase 1 Recovery and accept all patients that come out of the OR except open heart patients. I am trying to gather data if other PACU RNs receive specialty pay on top of their base pay to work in PACU (a specialized area). We do not accept new grads, all are ACLS, BLS and PALs certified, we can extubate in PACU, take ICU patients, take peds patients. We also discharge pa...
