Hi There, I work at a community hospital that is discussing utilizing PACU RNs as a resource for the OR RNs for overnight cases. The discussion involves having a PACU RN called in when the case is being booked to be present for pre-op and then stay through recovery. The OR is concerned about safety as currently there is not a second RN for over night cases (there is a scrub tech and of course anesthesia and surgeon). Waiting area for prepped patients 458 1

Administration is looking into moving cath lab patients (moderate sedation) that have been prepped and waiting to go for their procedure to a different area in the hospital in order to make more room space in preop. Wondering if anyone else has a model like this Clearly staffing, patient/family, and possible patient safety concerns Thanks for any discussion
