Does your Phase I/PACU have a timeframe for when unused opioids must be wasted (Within in a policy, for example 60 minutes from pulling the medication, immediately after the patient discharges from Phase I etc.)

What is the practice in your PACU when administering multiple doses from the same vial/syringe, where do you put the syringe/vial between doses I have one area who will put their labeled syringe in their scrub pocket or on the computer they are working on next to the patient. I have another area who has a drawer that locks. Unfortunately meds are being left in the drawers There is also concern that everyone knows the code to get in the locked boxes.
