Lisa Benson-DeVries, EdD, MSN, MBA, RN, CPAN

Professional Experience:

Lisa has 33 years of nursing experience, including 30 in perianesthesia care, and has been an ASPAN/NAPAN member since 1997. Her leadership in perioperative settings include supervising staff, developing orientation programs, and mentoring nurses to advance practice standards. Within the Nebraska PeriAnesthesia Nursing organization, she has served on the board for recruitment and membership, contributes to the education committee, and was honored as Nursing Recruiter of the Year in 2017. As an assistant professor, Lisa advances perioperative education through high-fidelity simulations integrating all phases of perianesthesia care. Her scholarship includes a quality improvement project on local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST), presented at the Nebraska State PeriAnesthesia Nursing Conference and disseminated statewide. Dedicated to professional growth, she leads CPAN and CAPA certification study sessions for Regions 2 and 3, inspiring nurses to achieve specialty certification excellence in perianesthesia nursing practice. She attends ASPAN education offerings enhancing her knowledge in perianesthesia care.
