Professional Experience:
Melissa Schmidt, MSN, RN, CNL, CPAN, CAPA, EBP-CH has 29 years of nursing experience including Oncology, Critical Care, Interventional Radiology, and PACU. She currently works as CNL for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, OR. She is passionate about improving outcomes for Veterans through evidence-based practice initiatives. She joined ASPAN/NPANA in 2010. Melissa served as education coordinator NPANA for 2013-2016, ABPANC Board of Directors from 2017-2019. She is currently the social Media director for the Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing (JoPAN). Strategic Workgroup chair for certification promotion. She serves as one of the communication coordinators for region 1 CPAN CAPA virtual study group. In addition, she serves as communication coordinator for Region One study group. Melissa has a passion for Perianesthesia Nursing and supporting nurses to provide care that encourages the best outcomes for patients.
