We have always waited 1 hour post Racemic Epi nebs in PACU Phase I. I have the new 2023-2024 ASPAN Standards book and cannot find this topic to use for reference for reviewing our PACU discharge policy. I see the passage for opiates, but not for Racemic Epi nebs. Can you help me find a reference for this?

I found in the newest Core Curriculum the answer. It is on page 162: "Associated with rebound effect: within 2 hours edema may resume and worsen. Observe patient for up to 4 hours per facility policy or protocol."
The facility that I am at right now does not have a policy, but I followed this guideline.

Gosh, thanks so much, Lori, that was very helpful! I will look in my copy of the Core Curriculum and bring it to our policy revision group.

Where in the 2023-2024 ASPAN standards does it reference the time period to keep a patient after they have received a narcotic?
