What would the Aspan criteria be for a patient to return to or be admitted to Pacu phase 1 regarding blood pressure? My patients preop BP was 180/80 with no symptoms. She was a 79 year old LEEP procedure patient with a cardiac history of a fib and CHF on BP meds that were held DOS. She had Tiva anesthesia and an initial waking BP of 140/80. 30 minutes later she was 200/100 with headache and flushed skin. Medication reaction was ruled out. Hydralazine was ordered iv to give every 15 minutes until Sbp less than 160. I gave it twice with little improvement and then was told by anesthesiologist that her heart rate was beginning to rebound from the hydralazine and she may need iv lopressor. Meanwhile, I had a second patient who did not receive my care for 45 minutes. At what point would it have been appropriate to send patient to Pacu, according to Aspan guidelines. This to me does not fit criteria for a phase 2 unit. Thank you Shannon
