I am wondering if the new ASPAN standards publication addresses new findings in relation to postoperative vital signs.

Can you expand on your question? The current standards state “a minimum of every 15 minutes during phase one as the clinical condition requires” (page 26). So, if the clinical condition warrants, take the vital signs more frequently. Please respond if you need further clarification.

I want to know if there are any recommendations related to how often postoperative vital signs should be taken in areas such as Phase I, Phase II, Phase III/Extended Care. I am also interested in knowing how frequent vital signs should be taken once the patient has arrived to the nursing unit.
